National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is celebrated every year on 1st of October in India in an effort to share the importance and need of the blood in the life of an individual. It was first started observing in the year 1975 on 1st October by the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology, a non-governmental organization. The non-governmental organization was first established on 22nd of October 1971 under the leadership of Dr. J.G. Jolly and Mrs. K. Swaroop Krishen.

  • Age: 18-60 years

 

  • Weight: 45 kg or above

 

  • Pulse Rate: 60 to 100/ minute

 

  • Blood Pressure (BP): Normal

 

  • Hemoglobin: 12.5 gm/100ml

 

  • Body Temperature: 37.5-degree centigrade
