A large number of disease cells have a chromosomal translocation, which means that small pieces of genetic material have swapped places inside the tumor cell.<\/p>\n

Radiation therapy uses high-energy beams, like X-rays and protons, to kill cancer cells. It may be used after surgery to kill any cancer cells which survive. Radiation therapy is also used to relieve the pain caused by Ewing sarcoma.<\/p>\n

The surgery is to remove the cancer cells, but surgeons also perform operations to maintain the function and minimize disability.
