A 23-year-old man tested positive for the deadly virus, was discharged from hospital after nearly two months. The man, hailing from a village near North Paravur, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the last 54 days. So, on Tuesday Kerala government declared Ernakulam district Nipah-free.<\/p>\n

She said the government had also taken the precautionary measures to restrain the virus.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 338 people had been kept under observation and 17 of them were kept in the isolation ward of a government hospital in Kalamassery by the health department.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja congratulated the doctors and other medical<\/a> professionals for their efforts to check the outbreak.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The blood<\/a> samples of the 23-year-old man which were tested at the National Institute of Virology in Pune, on 4 June the minister announced that the results had confirmed Nipah.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Earlier, the blood samples were examined at two virology institutes — Manipal Institute of Virology and Kerala Institute of Virology and Infectious Diseases and the test results had indicated Nipah.
