It is very similar to the most common type of <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gomedii.com\/health-care\/ovarian-cancer-passed-to-women-by-their-fathers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ovarian cancer<\/a> known as epithelial cancer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is Peritoneal Cancer?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Peritoneal cancer is a rare type of <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gomedii.com\/health-care\/world-cancer-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer<\/a> which is developed in a thin layer of tissue that lines the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gomedii.com\/health-care\/why-women-faces-abdominal-cramps-during-pregnancy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abdomen<\/a>. The thin layer covers the uterus, rectum, and bladder. It is made of epithelial cells, this structure is called the peritoneum. It produces a fluid that helps the organs move smoothly inside the abdomen part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cancer is not the same as stomach or intestinal cancer. The different types of surgery include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Removing the uterus from both ovaries and fallopian tubes.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Removing as much of cancer as possible through surgical debulking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Chemotherapy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chemotherapy is the process of treating the primary peritoneal carcinoma, given after the surgery with cisplatin or carboplatin along with docetaxel or paclitaxel.\u00a0<span style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carboplatin and paclitaxel is the most common chemotherapy that is most often used.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sometimes chemotherapy is given before the debulking surgery. If cancer shrinks from the chemotherapy then <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gomedii.com\/health-care\/look-younger-and-beautiful-without-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surgery<\/a> can be done to remove as much cancer as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Targeted therapy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Targeted therapy is used for treating some advanced carcinoma.
