What Happens During the Treatment?
After full clean-up of your scalp, a surgeon uses a small needle to numb an area of your head with local anesthesia.
There are two main techniques used:
1. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
The surgeon will use a blade to cut out a strip of scalp skin from the back of the head. The incision is typically several inches long. This is then closed with stitches.
The surgeon next separates the removed portion of the scalp into small sections using a magnifying lens and sharp surgical knife. These sections will help to achieve natural-looking hair growth.
2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
In this treatment, the hair follicles are cut out directly from the back of the head through hundreds to thousands of tiny punch incisions.
The surgeon makes small holes with a blade or needle in the area of your scalp for receiving the hair follicles. The surgeon will gently place hair in these holes to complete the procedure of hair transplantation.
After the treatment, your scalp will be covered with bandages for a few days. A hair transplant session can take 3- 4 hours or more. The stitches will be removed about 8 -10 days after transplant surgery.
This treatment requires up to 3 or 4 sessions to achieve the full head of hair you desire. Sessions occur several months apart to allow each transplant to fully heal.
What Happens After the Treatment?
Your scalp will be painful, and you need to take medications following hair transplant surgery, like:
- Pain medication
- Antibiotics to reduce your risk of infection
- Anti-inflammatory medications to keep swelling down
- Most people can return to work several days after surgery
It is normal for the transplanted hair to fall out 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure. This makes way for new hair growth. Most of the people will see some amount of new hair growth 8 to 12 months after surgery.
Conclusion:
In the above article, we have talked about hair transplant, its benefits, types, complications, and treatment. The best way to treat this is an operative technique which is done by the surgeon with proper methods. Always keep in mind to take proper medications and take proper rest as well. Consultation with the doctor is necessary for the betterment after the transplantation.
