Bone scan. In a few cases, the doctor might use a bone scan to look for bone tumors or compression fractures caused by osteoporosis.

 

 

Back Pain Treatment at Home

 

 

Use an ice pack and an over-the-counter pain reliever. After the inflammation calms down, a heating pad or pack can help to soothe muscles and connective tissue. If you have chronic back pain, sleep on a medium-firm mattress.
