How to Protect Your Family From Eye Infections

, Health A2Z

Summer is almost here and it’s time to protect your eyes from boring and sometimes serious infections. As a rule, doctors speak of infections in relation to:

a) The parts of the eye that are affected and
b) It’s causing factors.

Most viruses, fungi, bacteria, and parasites that invade the human body are also able to attack the outer and inner surface of the eye. Infectious eye diseases can be divided into two categories.

First, focus your ophthalmologist on the specific part of your eye infected or infected.

Conjunctivitis, for example, is inflammation of the conjunctiva, the membrane of the inner corner and the inner lid of the ocular surface. Other places may be inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis), the fluid inside the eye (hyalite), the cornea (keratitis), optic nerve (neuroretinitis), retina and blood vessels are lining (chorioretinitis). These are just a few areas. The eyes are an extremely complex organ that has a number of important parts.

In the second category, eye infections are classified according to the pattern of infection.

For example, the ocular histoplasmosis syndrome may be caused by a fungus (the condition called chorioretinitis). It usually attacks the blood supply to the retina, on the inside of the back of the eye.

We can also say that common type of infection that affects the eye is conjunctivitis. The problem is caused by an adenovirus (a type of common cold virus). This type of infectious conjunctivitis is sometimes called conjunctivitis and is very common in children.

Viral conjunctivitis is contagious because it can spread from the eye to the hands, which come into contact with the curls and other surfaces used by humans, causing the spread of the infection.

Staphylococcus aureus is another bacterium that is a known cause of viral conjunctivitis. Bacterial infections are very common in children and tend to persist longer in cases of conjunctivitis.

Conjunctivitis Symptoms:

  • Eye pain.
  • A feeling that something is in the eye.
  • Eyes become more sensitive to light.
  • Watery discharge from the eye ( can be of yellow, green or bloody in color).
  • Redness of the eye or eyelids.
  • Grey or white sore on the iris.
  • Fever with no other cause.
  • Reduced or blurred vision.

Prevention and Treatment of Conjunctivitis:

  • Wash your hands and keep your towels, towels, pillowcases, and makeup separately, preventing the spread of eye infections.
  • Be careful not to touch your eyes if you or anyone in your family has chickenpox, measles, mumps, flu or colds.
  • Encourage children to use disposable wipes to cleanse their runny nose and prevent them from using their clothes or hands to wash their noses.
  • Clean the eye before applying for the medicine and whenever the eye exists.
  • If you wear contact lenses, avoid them for the duration of the infection.
