Monday was the cleanest day ever in New Delhi. Because the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded only 41 on the previous day, this is the lowest air quality index in Delhi. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) starts measuring AQI in April 2015. Earlier the lowest AQI was in July 2017, which was up to 43.

It has been the fourth-least polluted day of August when AQI was recorded was 50 or below and it is also the fifth day of this year. When AQI was launched in 2015, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded no good air day. In 2017 July 30 and 31 also good air days in Delhi, when AQI registered in 43 and 47.
If we talk about the year 2016 and 2018, then in these two years, not a single day a good air quality index was measured. But in 2019 august the AQI is recorded 49.
In August 2020, the cleanest month since the launch of AQI. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) officials said it is not over, the more good air days were also expected in September owing to the rain. On August 24 the AQI was recorded 45, the good air days were seen due to heavy rain and good wind speed.

The executive director (research and advocacy) at Centre for Science and Environment, Anumita Roy Chowdhury said a good monsoon was helped Delhi’s air, but the low readings could also be an aftermath of the lockdown. “After the unlocking process started, you have seen monsoon also hit Delhi-NCR.
