As we all know fathers always play a special role in the child’s life. Fathers are the superhero, friend, guide or role model, a father stands by their kids through all difficulties as well as helps them.

To recognize fatherhood and male parenting, the Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year. This year, it falls on June 17th in India.

In European countries, Father’s Day is celebrated on St Joseph’s Day to remember the special role of the male parent or father in his child’s life.

It is said that the day was started by an American woman Sonora Smart Dodd, daughter of American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, who was a widower. Dodd was born in 1982 in Sebastian County, Arkansas, and her mother died when she was 16, her father raised her and five brothers after their mother died.

Dodd was worried that there was no day to honor and praise her father who raised her and five younger brothers alone. So she decided to celebrate the occasion that was on June 5, her father’s birthday, but the day was later pushed to Sunday, June 19, 1910.

On this day, people exchange gifts, cards, and flowers, as well as some, prefer to go for a dinner out to spend the day with their fathers.

Whether you have a cool dad or a strict father, on this Father’s Day, show some love, care, and thank him for being supportive and helping all the time.
