Things not to do during coronavirus lockdown

1. Do not blindly trust forwarded message on Whatsapp

You might have already received various WhatsApp forwards related to COVID-19 from home remedies to preventions and false statistics to coronavirus treatment. You can’t stop these people to send these messages, but you can at least try not to believe these false claims. For accurate information go to credible sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India.

2. Don’t stock up food or daily essentials

The day lockdown has announced across the country, people started stocking up groceries and other daily essentials for the next few months due to some baseless rumors. However, the reality is that all daily essentials including milk, groceries, medicines, vegetables, fruits, etc have been operational. 3. Don’t bulk buy sanitizers

Yes, sanitizers are a must to prevent the spread of the infection and fight this health emergency. But this doesn’t mean that you start stocking up sanitizer and buy each and every bottle in the market and save for future use. It difficult for those to get hold of it who actually needed it. In fact, washing hands with soap and water are the best practice of hand hygiene than using sanitizer.

4. Don’t ignore the symptoms

Avoiding symptoms is one of the most common things not to do during coronavirus lockdown. Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to normal flu which include fever, cough, difficulty in breathing, and sore throat. If you or anyone near you experience any of these symptoms and have a travel history or contact history, then do ask them to consult a doctor. Don’t self-assume that the person might be coronavirus positive. It can affect the person as well as can create panic among others.

5. Don’t panic

Do not let the fear of this covid-19 affect your mental health. Do some yoga and meditation that can help you to release stress and stay calm. If watching news channels or reading about coronavirus cases or causalities causes anxiety, then stay away from it. Moreover, try to make the most of this situation by spending some quality time with your family, reading a book that you wanted to finish for a while or try out a new hobby to keep you engaged. Remember, panicking should not be in your list of to do’s to fight against the coronavirus. Even it is in the list of things not to do during coronavirus lockdown.

Conclusion

COVID-19 is a public health emergency and it is the responsibility of each and every individual to do our bit to prevent the spread of the infection. Avoid doing the above-discussed things not to do during coronavirus lockdown. Do not panic, stay alert, stay home and act responsibly!
