The Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated every year on 12th of December which basically aims to mobilize diverse stakeholders to call for more equitable healthcare systems to acquire universal health coverage by leaving no one behind. It has become an important thing for increasingly global movement related to health for all.

Universal Health Coverage Day is also known as International Universal Health Coverage Day with a goal to raise awareness regarding the need for resilient and strong health systems as well as health coverage with multi-stakeholder partners.
Each year Universal Health Coverage advocates raising voices in an effort to share stories of the millions of people still waiting for healthcare scheme and making bigger or smarter investments in health and wellness.
This year Universal Health Coverage Day 2018 theme is “Unite for Universal Health Coverage: Now is the Time for Collective Action.”
Following are Some of Affordable and Quality Health Care In India
1. Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana:
Officially, the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) was launched in 2008 and now is operated by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. RSBY is originally designed for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) households but has been enlarged to cover other defined categories of unorganized workers such as building and construction workers, street vendors, domestic workers, sanitation workers, mine workers, rickshaw pullers and many more.
The premium cost for registered beneficiaries under the scheme is shared by the Government of India and the State Governments.
2. Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS):
This scheme is offered to the central government pensioners, employees, and their dependents residing in different cities covered by CGHS. A person who is currently the central government’s employee or a pensioner can get a CGHS card from the office of Additional Director of the City.
The scheme is depending on the person’s salary, with a deduction of a certain amount for CGHS. For example, above Rs 7600 per month than Rs 500 will be deducted. Pensioners can pay on a yearly basis or they can also deposit a sum once in 10 years.
3. Employment State Insurance Scheme (ESIS):
The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme of India is more than just health insurance for workers in the organized sector. This scheme is applicable for only for non-seasonal factories having 10 or more employees, as well as for certain establishments like shops, restaurants, hotels, newspapers, cinemas etc having 20 or more people.
In this, those employees who are earning Rs 21,000 or less per month as wages than the employer should contribute 4.75 percent and employee should contribute 1.75 percent.
