Healthy gums are pink and firm. If you have gingivitis, then your gums become red, swollen, bleeding, or sore. It is the gentle form of periodontal disease.

2. Periodontitis:

Periodontitis is an advanced gum problem. It not only destroys your gum tissue, but it also spreads behind the gum line, affects your teeth, and deteriorates your jawbone leading to tooth loss and jawbone atrophy.

 

3. Aggressive Periodontitis:

It is the quick development of periodontitis. Gingival ligaments (which hold your teeth in place), gingival tissue, and bone destruction developed at an advanced step.

4. Chronic Periodontitis:

Its a swelling of the supporting gum tissues of the teeth and bone loss. This is the major form and is distinguish by gum recession. declining of gums usually occurs slowly.

 

5. Systemic Periodontitis:

It is developed due to systemic disease. These diseases include:

What are the Causes of Gum Diseases?

The major cause of gum diseases is a plaque. However, there are some other factors that can contribute to Gum disease. These include:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Diseases that make your immune system weeks, such as cancer and HIV.
  • Medications can affect oral health like steroids, some anti-epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, some calcium channel blockers, and oral contraceptives
  • Smoking or chewing Tobacco
  • Poor oral hygiene habits
  • Family history
  • Crooked teeth

How to Treat Gum Diseases?

Under the treatment of gum disease we consider healthy gums to teeth; such as the depth of pockets, reduce swelling, stop disease progression, and the risk of infection.

The treatment procedure depends on the stage of disease, your respond to earlier treatments, and your overall health. It can be nonsurgical therapies that control bacterial growth or surgery to restore supportive tissues.
