In International Literacy Day, ILA supports educators across the world by empowering, inspiring students, and encouraging leaders to make them accessible to the resources they need to educate everyone.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its partners promote the importance of literacy for healthy societies with a strong focus on epidemics and communicable diseases such as HIV, stress, tuberculosis, and malaria.
In countries around the world including the United States and the United Kingdom, this day educates and informs people about literacy issues within their own communities. For awareness purposes, many activities are performed such as sending letters to the newspapers and reporting on concerns related to low literacy rising.
Other activities include projects related to a literacy program in areas where the literacy rate is low, especially related to the field of technology and literature, which are sponsored by various organizations, including education clubs.
