World Liver Day is celebrated on every year on April 19 in an effort to spread awareness concerning about liver-related disease.

 

The liver is the second largest and the most complex organ in our the body, with the exception of the brain. It is a key player in our body’s digestive system.

 

Everything we eat or drink including medicines as well passes through the liver. We cannot survive without the liver. It is an organ which can be easily damaged if we don’t take good care of it.

The liver works so hard by performing hundreds of complex functions such as;

  • Fighting against infections and disease.
  • Regulating blood sugar in our body.

Liver disease doesn’t usually cause any obvious symptoms or signs until the liver is damaged. At the damage stage, possible symptoms include loss of appetite, jaundice, and weight loss.

 

There are many reasons that lead to various kinds of the liver problems, but one primary reason is our lifestyle choices such as eating excessive fatty foods, lack of exercise, and high alcohol consumption.

 

However, the good news is that the liver has the unique ability to regenerate and repair itself with time, and many most illnesses are treatable.

 

Some of the common liver diseases that are caused due to our lifestyle habits such as Hepatitis A, B, and C, Cirrhosis, Fatty Liver Disease, and Cancer.
