Depression

Depression is also a mental health disorder which is characterized by depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, that cause significant impairment in daily life. It mentions that according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approx. 7.6 % of people over the age of 12 have depression in any 2-week period.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is the most common illness in the world and the leading cause of disability.

Sign and Symptoms of Depression

  • Depressed mood
  • Reduced pleasure or interest in activities previously enjoyed, loss of sexual desire
  • Unintentional weight loss (without dieting) or low appetite
  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping) or hypersomnia (excessive sleeping)
  • Psychomotor agitation, like restlessness, pacing up and down.

Anxiety and depression are the symptoms of same syndromes. Both the disorder leads to intestinal problems like digestion problem and constipation.

Clinical depression has been also linked to other mental illnesses, including anxiety disorders, social phobia, panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders affect women twice frequently as they do men, and several studies show that people with depression also experience symptoms related to anxiety disorder.
