Fighting And Winning Life At 60, Story Of Mrs Das

When Mr. Chowdhary approached us about the issues his mother was suffering, we assigned the most responsive of the teams to attend to him. Hailing from the deltas of Bangladesh, Mr. Akash Chowdhary had approached us in the middle of the pandemic. While there were more constraints in the new normal, we at GoMedii made sure that there were enough safeguards and rules were followed on all levels to help him land in India with his mother.

We met Shandha Rani Das through her online consultation for her multiple health issues. The comorbidities were rather complex as the number of doctors that we had to consult her with, increased to almost 3 and then to 6. We ensured that Mrs. Das gets the Visa invite as soon as possible, at an age of 60, it was crucial to be treated as soon as possible.

The family belongs to Chittagong and had visited India very frequently before the pandemic. Like we have mentioned, GoMedii left no stone unturned to help her get all her treatment done at the most affordable cost and convenience.

How did she receive the medical Visa?

The e-Medical Visa for India is an online travel authorization for foreign nationals who wish to seek medical treatment in the country. A medical Indian visa allows the holder to enter the country a total of 3 times. The e-Medical visa is a short term visa granted for medical treatment reasons.

This type of visa is only granted to the patient and not to family members. Blood relatives can obtain the medical attendant visa to accompany the e-Medical visa holder.

Obtaining a Medical visa is a straightforward process. Eligible travelers who wish to receive medical treatment can easily complete the application providing a few essential details which include their full name, date, and place of birth, address, contact info, and passport data.

Prior to this process of getting her Visa done, Mrs. Das received online consultations from the most reputed doctors and they suggested that she must fly to India for her treatment. Among the multiple treatment issues, there were two major ones of Cataract and Ulcers that had to be urgently dealt with. Mr. Sultan Altamash was the GoMedii representative and the relationship manager who took care of the entire process, from Visa to the other hospital documentation. It is no secret that the time that would have taken for the mother and son to get them the doctor consultation was cut to almost 1/4th of it because of GoMedii as a treatment partner.

Mr. Altamash received the two at the Chennai International airport. It is a must to say that GoMedii provides a very customized plan of treatment. We say so because of the fact that Mr. Das and her son had asked us to get them the appointment in Fortis Chennai and we made sure they get the earliest slot possible.

What were the two major surgeries for Mrs. Das?

While you are aware of the point that Mrs. Das had multiple health issues that involved almost 7 doctors for her consultation. There were major two surgeries that took place.

1. Cataract Surgery

What is a Cataract? A cataract is when your eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy. Proteins in your lens break down and cause things to look blurry, hazy, or less colorful.

Cataract surgery is a procedure to remove the lens of your eye and, in most cases, replace it with an artificial lens. Normally, the lens of your eye is clear. A cataract causes the lens to become cloudy, which eventually affects your vision.

Cataract surgery is performed by an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) on an outpatient basis, which means you don’t have to stay in the hospital after the surgery. Cataract surgery is very common and is generally a safe procedure.

2. Ulcer Surgery

A peptic ulcer is a sore on the lining of your stomach, small intestine, or esophagus. A peptic ulcer in the stomach is called a gastric ulcer. A duodenal ulcer is a peptic ulcer that develops in the first part of the small intestine (duodenum).

Ulcer Surgery: Triple therapy combines two antibiotics, such as amoxicillin and clarithromycin, with a proton pump inhibitor. The doctor can substitute metronidazole (Flagyl) for amoxicillin if you’re allergic to penicillin.

If you’ve had repeated bouts of these antibiotics, or if you live in an area where there’s resistance to clarithromycin or metronidazole, quadruple therapy treatment with two antibiotics (like metronidazole and tetracycline) plus bismuth and a proton-pump inhibitor work best. No matter what the plan is, you should take all medications for 10-14 days.

How was the accommodation decided?

The accommodation was the choice of Mrs. Das and her son and was provided by GoMedii. We kept in mind the least amount of time that must be taken by our patients in order to reach their hospital and get back to it.
