Is heart disease genetic in some cases, why?

Your family history is important just not to help you understand where you come from but many other aspects. If you are suffering from heart disease, you need to understand if it is because of your lifestyle or something else. Maybe you might be following a good and healthy lifestyle still end up having a heart condition.

Remember the movie Queen? Where the actress cries, “Sharma Ji ne toh….par phir bhi unko cancer ho gaya” that is because maybe his Dad or Mom had a history of the disease. Similarly, even in heart conditions when asking is heart disease a genetic issue, we say, in most cases, Yes!

Is heart disease genetic? YES!

Let us give you a list of those heart diseases which answer your question regarding, is heart disease genetic?

1) Arrhythmias

In the case of arrhythmia, the condition affects the normal heart rate. With an arrhythmia, the heart tends to beat too slow (bradycardia), too fast (tachycardia), or irregularly.

As per the University of Ottawa report, ” Atrial fibrillation (afib) is the most common arrhythmia. Different types of atrial fibrillation may last for seconds or be permanent. The condition is more common in older people and can have many different causes.”

2) Cardiomyopathy

It is a heart condition which results in harder cardiovascular muscles or heart muscles in short. It results in difficulty of the heart in pumping blood in the body. A prolonged condition of Cardiomyopathy leads to heart failure. In this condition, the heart is abnormally larger, thickened and stiffed and hence the efficiency to pump out blood decreases.

3) Congestion heart defect

A congestion heart defect is an issue with the structure of the heart. It is present at birth. It is the most common type of birth defect. The defects involve the walls of the heart, the valves of the heart, and the arteries and veins near the heart.

There are most of the women with congenital heart disease (CHD) can have a successful and safe pregnancy. However pregnancy carries some risk for women who have heart disease, there are increased risks to both the mother and the baby in the woman with CHD. Do we hope this answers the question, Is heart disease genetic?

4) Coronary artery disease

The disease develops when the major blood vessels that supply blood, oxygen, and nutrients (coronary arteries) to the heart become damaged or diseased. Cholesterol-containing deposits (plaque) in the arteries and inflammation are usually to blame for the disease.

When the deposition of plaque builds up, it narrows the coronary arteries’ blood vessels, which decreases the blood flow to the heart. Ultimately, the decreased blood flow may cause chest pain, breath shortness, or other signs and symptoms. A complete blockage of the vessel can cause a heart attack.
