Delhi air remains very poor, Air Quality Index at 319

Delhi air quality still stood in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday. The Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) said Air Quality Index (AQI) docking at 319.

The popular market, Chandni Chowk witnessed a ‘severe’ AQI of 393. Mathura road saw 381 AQI; Uttar Pradesh and Noida showed ‘very poor’ air quality with the AQI standing at 328.

 

The range between 0-50 of AQI is considered good, 51-100 is satisfactory, moderate is 101-200, poor 201-300, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 is considered as severe/hazardous.

 

The SAFAR has advised, “People are advised to take more breaks and do less intense activities. It is advisable for the asthmatics to keep medicines ready if symptoms of coughing or shortness of breath occur. Heart patients, see the doctor if they get palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue.”

 

Reduce prolonged or heavy exertion when the air quality is not good.

 

The city will see strong surface winds during the day time, said India Meteorological Department (IMD). Further, the temperature of the city will linger around 5 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius, minimum and maximum respectively.
