Cancer is defined as the uncontrolled growth of irregular cells in the body. When cancer develops in the body than the body’s normal control mechanism stops working.

In this particular situation, the old cells do not die, instead grow out of control, forming new as well as abnormal cells. These extra and enlarged cells form a mass of tissue, known as a tumor while some cancers do not form tumors such as leukemia.

High-Grade Cancer is also known as metastasis which is the medical term for cancer that spreads to a different part of the body from where it started.

Metastasis is also referred to as metastatic cancer’ or the ‘stage 4 cancer’. In this cancer, the cancer cells spread to different parts of the body from where they first formed such as the blood or lymph system, forming new tumors (metastatic tumors). For example, the breast cancer that has spread to the lung is called metastatic breast cancer.

What is High-Grade Cancer ?

The high-grade cancer is identified in cancer stages from I to IV, with IV being the most serious. In the high-grade cancer cells spread to different parts of the body from where they first formed such as the blood or lymph system, forming new tumors (metastatic tumors). For example, the breast cancer that has spread to the lung is called metastatic breast cancer.

How to Identify Metastatic Cancer?

It is quite difficult to detect the symptoms of metastatic cancer, as this does not always cause direct discomfort. However, the common causes depend on the size and location of a tumor. Here are some symptoms that you should keep in mind:

  • Pain or fracture when muscles or bones are affected.

  • Headaches, convulsions or nausea when they affect the brain.

  • If cancer reaches the lungs, it can cause shortness of breath.

  • Jaundice or swelling of the stomach when it comes to the liver.

How Does Cancer Spread in the Body?

The cancer cells move through the walls of the lymph nodes or blood vessels into nearby normal tissues. It then moves through the lymphatic system and bloodstream as it is found in small blood vessels at distant sites, invades the walls of blood vessels and travels to surrounding tissues. A small tumor develops and creates a blood circulation that helps it grow more.

Where Can Metastatic Cancer Spread?

Metastatic cancer can spread to different parts of the body. While the main points are the bladder, breast, colon, uterine, melanoma, ovary, pancreas, stomach and thyroid gland, it can transfer to the bones, liver, the lungs, and the brain.
