Dengue fever (or break-bone fever) is an infectious mosquito-borne disease caused by dengue viruses that are transmitted through mosquitoes such as Aedes aegypti (also known as yellow fever mosquitoes) and Aedes albopictus and are also capable of spreading other diseases like chikungunya, Zika fever, and Mayaro.

It mentions that fever, rashes, headaches, and pain throughout the body can be caused by the virus. When the mosquito bites an infected person, the mosquito can become a carrier of the virus and if this mosquito bites someone else, that person can also be infected with dengue fever.

The dengue virus cannot spread directly from person to person. There are several studies related to the fever such as “2012 dengue fever outbreak in Kolkata, India” by Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine which reveals that the dengue viruses in the outbreak belong to the family Flaviviridae, and a study entitled “Evaluation of diagnostic tests: dengue” published in the periodical “Nature Reviews Microbiology” which reveals the direct diagnostic method of dengue including virus isolation, antigen detection, and genome detection.
