What is Kidney Failure?

Kidneys are a bean-shaped pair of organs that are located toward your lower back. Your kidney is on the side of your spine. They use to filter your blood and remove toxins from your body. Kidneys send toxins as a waste to your bladder, which removes the toxins during urination.

Kidney failure happens when kidneys lose the ability to properly filter waste from your blood. There are so many factors which can interfere with your kidney health as well as function, like:

  • Toxic exposure to environmental pollutants

  • Certain medications

  • Certain chronic diseases

  • Severe dehydration

  • Kidney trauma

What are the Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease?

CKD or Chronic kidney disease gets worse gradually, and symptoms can not appear until your kidneys are badly damaged. In the late stages of Chronic kidney disease, as you are nearing kidney failure (ESRD), you may notice symptoms that are caused by waste and extra fluid building up in your body.

You may notice any of the following symptoms if your kidneys are started to fail:

  • Itching

  • Swelling in your feet and ankles

  • Too much urine (pee) or not enough urine

  • Trouble catching your breath

  • Trouble sleeping

If your kidneys stop working suddenly, this condition is called acute kidney failure, you can notice any of the following symptoms:

  • Back pain

  • Diarrhea

  • Nosebleeds

  • Rash

Having any of the above symptoms may be a sign of serious kidney problems. You should not ignore these and contact your doctor right away.
